Life on Earth

I took down Christmas last night. I hoped there would be some sort of prize for being the last resident to give up on the Christmas spirit for the year, but alas, there is one other door still adorned with an obvious Christmas wreath. It's a nice one though.

Yaw and I were joking a few days ago about Fred and Barb. They were clearly in the process of removing all the lights, etc. from all around their apartment, bushes, balcony, etc. But they also had one of those mobile storage units in their parking space, and were using a space for an empty apartment for their van. I commented to Yaw that I wondered if they were moving. He said he thought they were using that to store their Christmas decorations. I said "They do have a lot, don't they?"

Turns out they really were moving. Into a trailer in a nearby trailer park. I have nothing against trailers. My family has lived in one in the very early years as a unit, and each of my sisters has lived in one at one time or other. They are shelter from the world outside. Except in Florida, there are lots of hurricanes; and when there aren't hurricanes, there are tornadoes; and when there aren't tornadoes, there's lots of rain. (On Christmas day, we had quite a rash of them in the county above mine, where Daytona is.) So trailers offer very little attraction to me in this area.

I went over and wished them both well and hoped to see them around. This is Titusville, so I'm sure I will. I know for a fact we get our prescriptions at the same place, so I'm sure I'll see them occasionally.

Still working at McD's once a week. It's almost time for me to head out now. 4:00 wake up still sucks after all this time. Or should I say it sucks worse each time? Either is true. I'm drafting a note to hang on the bulletin board at work (both jobs) that I have a furnished room for rent if someone knows a college student or some such in need of a bed and little else. That may help things out. I'm willing to try it.

Well, off to the grease pit. I have decided to challenge myself. I will attempt to get through today without burning myself. I usually get at least one tiny burn from popping grease. Maybe if everyone comes in who is scheduled, I can work the table instead of cooking. That'd be a nice change.

As a side note, I did manage to get through that day without getting burnt, even though we didn't have a full crew. I worked the grill as little as possible. I've actually been in the place long enough that I can get my way once in a while. ;-)
